Final Project

The memory we had is trying to eat me inside slowly…
I realized we never knew how to cherish the things we had until we started to lose them. I feel that I am living in the past.
My brain doesn’t have room for anything else, but him.
Calling my memory back makes me sick.
I revisited the places we went before. I was sitting there for hours and hours, thinking…thinking…
......................................................................................

What we had was good, and that is good enough.

Artist #8

Artist: Lori Nix
Title: Junkyard
Year: 2003

"The scenes I build today are mostly made by hand." Lori Nix said. I like her work because I think she is different from other photographers, in every scence, she would spend seven months to create, construct, and photograph.

This photo is from her "Lost" series. I like her lighting and the details in the background, It looks so real to me! "My childhood was spent in a rural part of the United States that is known more for it's natural disasters than anything else." Lori said, she was born in a small town in western Kansas. Her childhood infulences her work, most of her work give people a destory feeling. The other series is called "The City" is pretty popular, too.

Artist #7

Artist: David Hockney
Title: Photographing Ainne Leibovitz while she is photographing me, Mojave dessert.
Date: Feb, 1983

David Hockney is born in Bradford, Yorkshire. In September, 1982, he starts to use Pentax 100 to collage photographs. I like his photographic collages. Expecially the absence of the white borders. Just like this one. I like the random shape, to make me feel relax. It seems like that he was using different settings to take the photographs. When I took look at this photo as a whole thing, I found the brightness are differnt. I do like it!

Artist#6

Artist: Joyce Neimanas
Title: R At Table (#9)
Year: 1981

Joyce Neimanas collaged these 32*40 SX70 Polaroid Prints together to make "R At Table," I think it is pretty cool!I like the composition, and the way she put those different things and a person together.

"Portraits of people appear to be real space but this is an illusion. To create the deception, 2D objects are photographed and the SX70’s are arranged to create what appear to be 3D space or items."

Artist #5

Artist:Elina Brotherus
Date:2007
Title: In the mirror

I really like her photographs,I like the way she emphasize people's back."Brotherus here points also to the double identity that she  has long assumed in her own work." She usually uses her own body to model for her photographs. She said that "It is not me, It is a photograph" I like this photo since she is in the mirror, and in the big mirror, she is in the small mirror. When I looked at her work,I can feel her sadness. Like this photo here, Everything looks like a little bit broken, imperfection, the mirror looks old, so does the wall and the door, but I do like it.
