Title: R At Table (#9)
Year: 1981
Joyce Neimanas collaged these 32*40 SX70 Polaroid Prints together to make "R At Table," I think it is pretty cool!I like the composition, and the way she put those different things and a person together.
"Portraits of people appear to be real space but this is an illusion. To create the deception, 2D objects are photographed and the SX70’s are arranged to create what appear to be 3D space or items."
I love how this picture of collages formed an even bigger picture! It creates abstract and liveliness. My eyes didnt get bored looking at this because in every section and corner of this image has a mind of its own, telling and showing the abstract image.
ReplyDeleteThat's a insightful observation Monique. Yes with each photo being it's own unto itself, yet also making up a greater whole, one could correlate this to a natural holoarchy. Our own bodies are like this. A cell is a life unto itself, yet we a made up of billions of cells. The complexity of communication and cooperation between these cells make up human individuals. Another artist who plays with this idea is Tera Donavan. She is one of my favorites and must be seen in person if you get the chance. http://www.acegallery.net/artistmenu.php?Artist=8
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy this image. I think its interesting how this image is constructed. The arm shots are interesting because some of the photos are only slivers of the arm instead of having a single photo where part of the arm is in the middle of the frame. I also think an aspect of this image that is extremely well done is the tone of all the images are similar which helps signify it as a single work.
ReplyDeleteGreat image and wonderful comments everyone! Andre, the connection between this collage and Tera Donavan's work is really nice! I also love her art.
ReplyDeleteI like the clutter on the table top and the outdoor scene. This is a photograph of the artist's husband - Robert Heinecken!
